November Favourites

I don’t always write a favourites post at the end of every month, but in November I had so many favourites that I just had to share them, show some gratitude, and show a little love. November was somewhat difficult, because I was made redundant- the overarching theme has been trying to keep my shit together. So here goes!

Running for the hell of it

You know what I mean- running to hear the rush of the wind and the sound of your own breathing. I’ve been having a lot of those runs recently, and they’ve been absolutely fantastic. Just what the doctor ordered.

Yoga

Since Reykjavik I have been trying, somewhat in vain, to incorporate a regular yoga practice into my routine. But more recently, having lost my job and suffered from repeated tension headaches and full-blown migraines, it’s become more and more imperative for me to keep on top of my emotional wellbeing. My favourite studios have been Dragonfly Yoga Studio, Another Space in Covent Garden, and Gymbox, which offers a wide variety of classes.

It’s been a weird month at the office, with everyone being made redundant and all. But fear not, because out of the worst situations comes humour, bonding and creativity in the form of Postitnotivation! This began when my good friend and colleague started leaving me motivational post its all over my screen. A few Instagram posts later and he decided to launch the concept as a proper brand! So if you’re ever in need of some casual, friendly motivation, head over to their Instagram and give them a follow!

Pret

I’ve been spending a lot of my time before, after and in-between job interviews in various Prets around the city. I absolutely adore Pret for reasons I’ve discussed here previously; but essentially, their offer of healthful, soul-warming food paired with cheap coffee (filter for £1 anyone?) just fills me with joy.

Energy Snacks Monthly Favourites Box

I was lucky enough to receive a second Energy Snacks box, and I have to say it outperformed the first! These boxes feature a great mix of energy and protein snacks, as well as drinks mixes such as electrolyte powders. All delivered to your door, every month.

This Works Lavender and Vertivert Candle

I am absolutely head over heels in love with this candle, so much so that I’ve already burnt my way through two. I’ve been finding aromatherapy really soothing in the past few weeks when my nerves have been a little fraught, and this candle is the ultimate in relaxation. The scent is strong without being overpowering, and calms me down after a long day. You can pick these up in TK Maxx, which makes them a steal in my opinion!

Why Not Me? By Mindy Kahling

I’m currently listening to this on Audible, and it’s great for when you need a bit of a boost from every girl’s comedy idol. In this collection of essays, Kahling discusses everything from dating to Hollywood, inequality to meeting the President. And all with her trademark sense of humour.

The Arch Climbing 

Recently I’ve been heading down to The Arch most weekends for a good ol’ fashioned morning of bouldering. As someone who used to climb quite regularly, it’s great to get back into the habit. Everyone is so friendly at this wall, and it’s big enough that there’s always a route to get stuck into. I’ve noticed myself radiating towards more technical and balanced-focus route- the complete opposite of the style used to enjoy!

Marks and Spencers Wholefood Salads

British national institution Marks and Spencer is pretty well known for their food offering, and recently I discovered their 2 for £3 side salads which, if you ask me, make a pretty good main for lunch. My favourites include their Borlotti, Flagolet and Black Bean Salad, as well as their Mango, Mangetout and Corriander Slaw. If you haven’t tried them already, I highly encourage you to do so!

Aaaaand that’s a wrap! I’ve been focusing on keeping calm and collected in the face of some tricky circumstances.
