Last night Team GB cyclist Laura Trott took home her second gold medal of Rio 2016 and her fourth Olympic gold overall. This means that she is undefeated in Olympic competitions, in her two events, Team Pursuit and Ominum. Not only that, but she’s an ambassador for the Always #likeagirl campaign which aims to get more women involved in sport. One thing I will say though- when someone a year younger than you has 4 Olympic goals, it gives you a kick up the backside motivation-wise!
Some stats on Laura:
She was born prematurely and with a collapsed lung, and advised to take up exercise to regulate her breathing.
She first burst onto the cycling scene in 2010 as a junior, before qualifying for her first Olympic Games in 2012
Her four golds also make her the most decorated female Olympian in British sporting history
She’s spoken out on the inequality between the coverage between men’s and women’s road cycling
She’s engaged to fellow Olympic cyclist Jason Kenny, and tweeted this gem when he won his sixth gold – they now have ten between them!
I’m finding these Olympics incredibly inspirational- so many girl bosses out there just doing their thing, kicking ass, taking names.
Any other Olympic ladies I should have on my radar?
Lots of love,
