Last week I covered the more conventional runner-specific gifts for the athlete in your life– you know, sports kit, running shoes and sports nutrition. But let’s be honest, there are other things runners like too! (Santa, if you’re watching, running kit is still top of my list…)
I don’t know what it is about runners (or endurance athletes), but we seem to love coffee more than a normal amount. Maybe we rely on it for performance. Or maybe we’re just knackered half the time. But coffee is always a good shout for the runner in your life. I love flavoured ground coffee for guilt-free caffeine love.
I became completely obsessed with Quest bars when I was living in Mexico. You could buy them easily at health food shops, and I had a daily expenses allowance which meant I could afford them more often than not. It’s been months since I had a Quest bar and I miss them. The struggle is real.
Between running, lifting and most importantly, swimming, my hair is constantly a ratchet mess. Maybe your runner (or triathlete) feels the same way. Treat them to some luxury!
Even though I’m a pretty hygienic person, my room always smells of running kit. I have a weekly purification session (open all the windows, and door, and clean sheets) but when you have to keep all your running kit in an enclosed space, you have to accept it as a fact of life. But a candle? A candle will make all that sooo much better.
Spotify Premium was a game-changer for me. Not only can I listen to a ton of music even when I’m offline; I get a weekly Discovery playlist, which always helps me keep the music fresh for long runs. Plus I’m one of those god-awful people who constantly has headphones in and music on.
This speaks for itself. I’ll bet you any runner does it 50% for the endorphin high, 50% for the food.
Aaaand now I’m gonna go buy some chocolate!
What non-running related items are on your Christmas wishlist?
Lots of love,
